On-Access Virus Scanning Enabled for OS/400 V5R3
We’re excited to announce that, to fill the growing demand for virus protection on the iSeries, On-Access scanning for viruses is now an enabled feature within OS/400 and fully supported by Bytware’s StandGuard Anti-Virus security solution. Beginning with V5R3, IBM has enabled the operating system to support virus scanning, including On-Access scanning.

The upcoming release of StandGuard Anti-Virus V5R3, to coincide with the launch of IBM’s OS/400 V5R3, will be available as a free 15-day trial. Mydoom.F Hits iSeries Shop, Deletes 25,000 Files
A new variant of Mydoom recently made its way around the Internet and this particularly nasty worm caused a great deal of damage to users — including iSeries shops — thanks to its ability to delete files. Bytware has been contacted by several iSeries shops that have suffered data loss caused by Mydoom.F infection of networked PCs.

Configuring TCP/IP and Sending e-Mail Notifications in Restricted State
Did you know that MessengerPlus and MessengerConsole can notify you about inquiry messages via e-mail when the operating system is in restricted state? Here are instructions on setting up TCP/IP and Messenger to meet these needs. (Requires a valid Bytware Messenger support ID and password.)
