Reno, NV (July 28, 2008)– Bytware, Inc. today released Lotus Domino support for StandGuard Anti-Virus, part of the latest release of its award-winning virus detection and cleaning solution powered by McAfee.

Lotus Domino continues to grow as the standard for mail on IBM i (IBM Power Systems, System i, iSeries, AS/400 servers), and the requirement to scan mail natively is now, more than ever, a requirement too.

StandGuard Anti-Virus offers native scanning of mail on IBM i, and with this new release has been expanded to include support of Lotus Domino. This new add-on feature gives users the ability to manage, scan, and clean Domino mail and databases residing on IBM servers.

Recognizing the global nature of today’s computing, Bytware is also pleased to announce the availability of Lotus Domino support in Japanese with its Tokyo-based partner Solpac.

“We are very excited to be launching Domino support for StandGuard Anti-Virus in Japan. The ability to do real-time and on-demand scanning of Domino databases (NSF) is something most Japanese Domino customers using IBM i are looking for in this time frame,” said Solpac president Tsutomu Fujita. “And we can now set up and maintain StandGuard Anti-Virus for Domino using the Notes client interface. This is a nice interface which we like. Domino support with StandGuard Anti-Virus is something that is great news for the IBM i users in Japan.”

The Japanese-language interface is available today, and multilingual development will continue with a German-language interface planned for a future release.

StandGuard Anti-Virus Domino features include:

Mail Scanning
Dynamically scans e-mail for viruses and other types of malicious code to protect Domino mail users from receiving infected and potentially harmful e-mail.

Database Scanning
On-demand scanning of Domino databases allows users to detect viruses and malicious code embedded within document attachments and OLE objects.

Quarantine
Moves infected attachments to a quarantine database where an administrator can further investigate their origin and integrity by submitting a sample to McAfee’s AVERT Labs threat center.

Real-time Alerts
Alerts can be configured to notify IT staff when specific events occur, such as when infected messages and documents are detected or when automatic activities take place. These alerts allow administrators to be continually aware of the health and status of the system.

Automatic Updating
The database of virus definitions is automatically updated daily from McAfee’s servers or from specified computers on the local network.

Scheduling
Administrators can schedule automatic database scanning and automatic updating to occur at user-configurable times when activity is low, such as nights and weekends.

Logging
Logs all activity to a central database—including details of infected objects detected during scans and when automatic activities occur—so administrators can maintain an audit trail for investigations and regulatory compliance.

Ease of Management
Remote Domino servers can be configured and managed from a central administration server, reducing the time and effort normally required to manage remote servers. The log database is presented as a consolidated view of all events occurring across multiple servers. In addition to the traditional Notes interface, StandGuard Anti-Virus also provides a browser-based interface for viewing and managing all activities across multiple remote servers.

The Domino support is an optional add-on feature of the base StandGuard Anti-Virus solution for IBM i (i5/OS), Bytware’s native anti-virus solution designed to scan IFS directories for malicious code and perform advanced cleaning and notification procedures on IBM System i, iSeries, and AS/400 servers.

Features of the base StandGuard Anti-Virus solution for IBM i (i5/OS) include:

The latest McAfee engine designed for IBM i.

Scanning within compressed, packed, and OLE files.

Decompression and scanning of files compressed in packages such as PKZIP, .LHA, .ARJ, .CHM, etc.

Detection and cleaning of macro and script viruses/malicious code.

Detection and cleaning of encrypted and polymorphic viruses/malicious code.

Advanced heuristic analysis to detect new, unknown, and generic viruses/malicious code.

Detection and removal of Trojans, worms, and many other types of malware.

Object Integrity Scanning to detect potentially dangerous changes to OS Objects.

Green screen and Navigator plug-ins.

Automatic downloading of daily virus definitions directly from McAfee’s servers or the local network.

Automatic downloading of software updates and fixes directly from Bytware’s servers or the local network.

Built-in scheduling features for scanning and updating.

Extensive logging capabilities.

StandGuard Anti-Virus 6.0 is part of Bytware’s StandGuard Security Suite, which includes StandGuard Anti-Virus for IBM i, i5/OS, OS/400, AIX, Linux, and Lotus Domino, along with StandGuard Network Security and StandGuard Recycle Bin. StandGuard Anti-Virus 6.0 is the latest release of its award-winning virus detection and cleaning solution powered by McAfee. Designed for the new IBM i 6.1 operating system.

RENO, Nevada—Bytware, Inc., developer of monitoring, notification, and security solutions for System i, AIX, and Linux, announced today the addition of a graphical user interface to its object-based StandGuard Network Security 3.0. Recognizing the evolution of System i and the needs of administrators, Bytware last year rebuilt StandGuard Network Security with an object-based approach and has now enhanced this latest version with a graphical user interface that offers additional ease-of-use and reporting capabilities unique to a windowed environment.

Along with the features available through the green screen, additional features provided by the new GUI include: a robust event viewer; a new time-saving browser; export capabilities to enhance analysis of security data; and the ability to search and filter SQL statements, providing users with a new method for studying security on their system.

The new browse feature allows administrators to add users, IFS objects, database objects, programs, and commands using existing lists on the system, significantly cutting the time required to establish and maintain security policies.

Through the new event viewer users can reorder columns, set display colors, leverage advanced search technology, and export events in either CSV or TXT format. StandGuard Network Security’s export capabilities give System i administrators the ability to target specific events and analyze them more thoroughly, enhancing the effectiveness of security and aiding in investigation and regulatory compliance.

“We are very excited to be launching a graphical user interface for StandGuard Network Security that mirrors all the features accessible through our green-screen interface, as well as expanding further our extensive reporting and exit point security functionality, and multiple system management,” said Bytware President Christine Grant.

StandGuard Network Security is an object-based network and exit point security solution that is consistent with i5/OS object security design, providing a supplemental layer of public and private authorities to resources on System i. Its object-based approach reduces the time and effort required to create and manage authorities, reduces configuration errors, and provides a more usable audit trail compared to inferior, transaction-based designs.

The new StandGuard Network Security GUI is available now and is free of charge to existing StandGuard Network Security customers. To upgrade, contact Bytware at 800.932.5557. Comprehensive information about StandGuard Network Security and free trials are available on Bytware’s website at www.bytware.com.

RENO, Nevada—Bytware, Inc., developer of monitoring, notification, and security solutions for System i, AIX, and Linux, announced today new enhancements to its MessengerPlus and MessengerConsole solutions that make it easier than ever to automate monitoring and notification to cell phones worldwide.
These new enhancements to the company’s popular systems management solutions put the power of GSM and SMS protocols into the hands of System i administrators, allowing simple and quick wireless distribution of messages to any cell phone in the world without the need for a paging provider, phone lines, or modems. Messages are received anywhere across the globe in seconds.”This update to Messenger acknowledges the change in how our customers communicate,” says Bytware CEO Michael Grant. “Today everybody carries cell phones or Blackberries, not pagers. With this enhancement, MessengerPlus and MessengerConsole can be used as a real company-wide text messaging system. We’ve cut the strings for System i.”

In addition to enabling easier wireless messaging, the GSM/SMS enhancements also eliminate the compatibility issues that can affect international users. In many areas of the world, variations in phone service can make it difficult to successfully set up automated notification to mobile devices. By sending messages phone-to-phone using standardized text-messaging protocols, Messenger now eliminates these issues. All that is needed is a number and a phone capable of receiving a text message. The receiving device does not even need to have GSM or SMS capabilities.

MessengerPlus and MessengerConsole with enhanced GSM/SMS features are available now. Comprehensive information about Messenger and free trials are available on Bytware’s website at www.bytware.com or by calling 800.932.5557.

RENO, Nevada—Bytware, Inc., developer of monitoring, notification, and security solutions for System i, AIX, and Linux, announced today the official release of the newest addition to the StandGuard Security Suite, StandGuard Network Security 3.0. This new version of the company’s popular network security solution represents a major rewrite and utilizes an object-based design that is consistent with OS/400 object security. Building upon the OS/400 design, StandGuard Network Security 3.0 provides a supplemental layer of public and private authorities to resources on your System i server.

An object-based approach to security reduces the time and effort required to create and manage authorities, reduces configuration errors, and provides a more usable audit trail compared to inferior, transaction-based designs. As Bytware CEO Michael Grant points out:

“Transaction-based security is time-intensive and prone to error. A big problem with the transaction security model is that any slight change to a previously ‘memorized’ transaction will result in a mismatch between what has been memorized and what is occurring. This requires constant review and adjustment to keep your access authorities working.”

The object-based security design of StandGuard Network Security 3.0 solves these problems by looking at the transactions and breaking them into the objects that are being accessed. Variations in the transactions such as upper/lower case or small differences in the SQL statement do not matter. The objects will remain the same and no reviewing is necessary.

StandGuard Network Security 3.0 is available now and works with i5/OS V5R3 and V5R4, and uses newer V5R3 exit point technology to implement true object-based security for SQL statements without parsing or memorizing every statement.

Additional features in StandGuard Network Security include: protection for all i5/OS exit points; support for public and private authorities; extensive reporting features with more that 16 different reports; automatic product updating; and a non-intrusive phased-in implementation.

Comprehensive information about StandGuard Network Security and free trials are available on Bytware’s website at http://www.bytware.com/products/ns/ or by calling 800.932.5557.

RENO, Nevada—Bytware, Inc., today announced the release of the latest version of its network and exit point security solution, StandGuard Network Security 3.0. The new version is a major upgrade that once again revolutionizes iSeries security with a wealth of new and enhanced features, while maintaining the unique phased-in approach to security policy. StandGuard Network Security 3.0 expands previous exit point coverage to monitor and protect all exit points that can be used to access data or run commands, securing over 120 server functions. Users can create public and private authorities to the server, server functions, database objects, IFS objects, programs, and commands. StandGuard Network Security 3.0 supports supplemental group profiles and location group profiles.

Reporting has also been enhanced in this new release with 16 different reports to choose from, most providing many types of selection criteria.

Keeping security technology up-to-date also becomes easier with the introduction of automated PTF updates. This popular feature from Bytware’s StandGuard Anti-Virus and Messenger solutions has been added to StandGuard Network Security 3.0.

StandGuard Network Security 3.0 helps organizations address one of the most critical security issues facing us today. Recent security studies show that financial losses due to computer system breaches have increased dramatically in the past several years, with nine out of ten large businesses and government agencies acknowledging system break-ins each year resulting in losses exceeding $200,000 per organization. Two categories—theft of proprietary information and financial fraud—are the most frequent and most damaging types of security failure. According to the studies, up to forty percent of the damage originates from the Internet, but surprisingly, about two-thirds of the attacks come from inside the firewall—by trusted insiders—operating within the corporation. StandGuard Network Security 3.0 provides state-of-the-art tools for guarding against this inside threat.

StandGuard Network Security 3.0 will be available in Q2 2006. For more information about StandGuard Network Security, visit http://www.bytware.com/products/ns/

RENO, Nevada—Bytware, Inc. (www.bytware.com), a global authority on viruses and security, announced today the availability of StandGuard Anti-Virus for AIX running on IBM pSeries servers.
This new solution joins StandGuard Anti-Virus for iSeries and StandGuard Anti-Virus for Linux as the third member of Bytware’s family of virus protection solutions, and is the latest member of Bytware’s growing StandGuard Security Suite that also includes intrusion prevention, access controls and authorities, user monitoring, vulnerability and threat mitigation, monitoring and notification, auditing, and recovery.

Like all platforms, AIX is susceptible to hosting and spreading viruses. Recommended guidelines in regulations such as SOX and FISMA (Federal Information Security Act of 2002) for anti-virus prevention strongly recommend that organizations deploy anti-virus software on all systems for which satisfactory solutions are available. Bytware is joining the many government and non-government agencies who are working together to educate organizations of the importance of deploying anti-virus software on all systems within their IT infrastructure and organization. This new solution gives users the tools to detect, contain, and eradicate threats originating on AIX servers. Identifying host servers infected by malicious code is vital to containing malware incidents. StandGuard Anti-Virus for AIX includes the features, power, and ease-of-use that users have come to expect from StandGuard Anti-Virus, which was named the 2003 Search400 Security Product of the Year (iSeries version).
