Bytware Announces StandGuard Anti-Virus for Domino on IBM Power Systems

Sunday, March 30th, 2008

Bytware, Inc., industry leading provider of award-winning monitoring and security solutions, is pleased to announce the expansion of the StandGuard Anti-Virus family of products with the addition of a new module for scanning of IBM Lotus Domino mail and databases residing on IBM Power Systems. An optional add-on for StandGuard Anti-Virus for i5/OS (now IBM i), StandGuard Anti-Virus for Domino is powered by McAfee and includes the following features:

Mail scanning. The application dynamically scanning e-mail messages for viruses and other types of malicious code, protecting Domino mail users from receiving infected and potentially harmful e-mail messages.

Database scanning. The application provides on-demand scanning of Domino databases, detecting viruses andmalicious code embedded within document attachments and OLE objects.

Quarantine. The application moves infected attachments to a quarantine database, where an administrator can furtherinvestigate their origin and integrity by submitting a sample to McAfee’s Avert threat center.

Real time alerts. Alerts can be configured for when various events occur, such as when infected messages anddocuments are detected, and when automatic activities occur. These alerts administrators to be continually aware of thehealth and status of the system.

Automatic updating. The antivirus databases are automatically updated daily from McAfee’s Internet servers, or fromspecified computers on the local network.

Scheduling. The administrator can schedule automatic database scanning and automatic updating to occur at userconfigurable time periods, such as nights and weekends when activity is low.

Logging. All product activities are logged to a central database, including details of infected objects detected duringscans, and when automatic activities occur.

Ease of management. Remote Domino servers can be configured and managed from a central administration server, reducing the time and effort normally required to mange remote servers. The log database is presented as aconsolidated view of all events occurring across multiple servers. In addition to the traditional Notes user interface, the product also provides a web browser interface to view and manage all activities across multiple remote servers.

The Domino module requires StandGuard Anti-Virus for System i, Bytware’s native System i virus detection solution designedto scan IFS directories for viruses and perform advanced cleaning and notification procedures. StandGuard Anti-Virus foriSeries (powered by McAfee) provides the following:

• Native OS/400 McAfee scanning engine•Scans within compressed, packed and OLE files.
• Decompresses and scans files compressed in packages such as PKZip, .LHA, and .ARJ, .CHM, etc.
• Detects and cleans macro and script viruses.•Detects and cleans encrypted and polymorphic viruses.

Bytware Adds GUI to StandGuard Network Security

Monday, March 5th, 2007

RENO, Nevada—Bytware, Inc., developer of monitoring, notification, and security solutions for System i, AIX, and Linux, announced today the addition of a graphical user interface to its object-based StandGuard Network Security 3.0. Recognizing the evolution of System i and the needs of administrators, Bytware last year rebuilt StandGuard Network Security with an object-based approach and has now enhanced this latest version with a graphical user interface that offers additional ease-of-use and reporting capabilities unique to a windowed environment.

Along with the features available through the green screen, additional features provided by the new GUI include: a robust event viewer; a new time-saving browser; export capabilities to enhance analysis of security data; and the ability to search and filter SQL statements, providing users with a new method for studying security on their system.

The new browse feature allows administrators to add users, IFS objects, database objects, programs, and commands using existing lists on the system, significantly cutting the time required to establish and maintain security policies.

Through the new event viewer users can reorder columns, set display colors, leverage advanced search technology, and export events in either CSV or TXT format. StandGuard Network Security’s export capabilities give System i administrators the ability to target specific events and analyze them more thoroughly, enhancing the effectiveness of security and aiding in investigation and regulatory compliance.

“We are very excited to be launching a graphical user interface for StandGuard Network Security that mirrors all the features accessible through our green-screen interface, as well as expanding further our extensive reporting and exit point security functionality, and multiple system management,” said Bytware President Christine Grant.

StandGuard Network Security is an object-based network and exit point security solution that is consistent with i5/OS object security design, providing a supplemental layer of public and private authorities to resources on System i. Its object-based approach reduces the time and effort required to create and manage authorities, reduces configuration errors, and provides a more usable audit trail compared to inferior, transaction-based designs.

The new StandGuard Network Security GUI is available now and is free of charge to existing StandGuard Network Security customers. To upgrade, contact Bytware at 800.932.5557. Comprehensive information about StandGuard Network Security and free trials are available on Bytware’s website at www.bytware.com.
