Tech Tip:
StandGuard Anti-Virus Jobs and Single-threaded Queues
StandGuard Anti-Virus job descriptions use a default job queue of QBATCH in library QGPL. If you have made that job queue a single-threaded job queue (Max active 1), the StandGuard job will sit in the job queue until complete, which could be a problem for long jobs. This tech tip will show you two ways to change this. (Requires a valid Bytware StandGuard Anti-Virus support ID and password.)

QHost-1 Trojan changes DNS settings, exploits IE
(SearchSecurity)-New details have emerged about a mysterious Trojan that has been changing domain name server settings on systems since yesterday [10/1/03]. Dubbed QHost-1 by antivirus software vendors, the Trojan changes DNS settings and renders some network-dependent services such as e-mail and Web surfing unavailable for corporate users.

AT&T drops TAP paging protocol
AT&T Wireless text messaging on the TAP gateway has been discontinued by AT&T as of August 31, 2003. Bytware values our AT&T customers and therefore has developed an enhancement to the Messenger product line that provides support for sending SMS messages. Read the press release.

Create and Log Custom Events in MessengerNT
Did you know you can use Microsoft’s Logevent.exe (Event Logging utility) to create and log custom events to the Application Log of Event Viewer? You can then use MessengerNT to send these events to your iSeries where they are monitored by MessengerPlus or MessengerConsole. Find out more. (Requires a valid Bytware MessengerNT support user ID and password.)
