Education:
Top Security Concerns for the IFS (White Paper)
The IFS on OS/400 is one of the most ignored parts of the system, yet it enables many of the most powerful and most used features on OS/400 today. Most people don’t realize they need to be concerned about the IFS. They make the incorrect assumption that if they are not using their system as a web server or a network file server that they have no reason to concern themselves with the IFS. This assumption couldn’t be further from the truth. Overlooking the many ways in which OS/400 utilizes the IFS could weaken the security of your system. Get all the details from Carol Woodbury in our free white paper.

Virus Count Soars In 2003; Attackers Are Winning The War
(TechWeb)-Viruses are on the move-and the rise….with attackers, and attacks becoming increasingly more sophisticated. In the past few months, attacks have targeted specific vertical markets for the first time and attackers have begun probing the globe for the best way to propagate their pap. Read the full story at TechWeb to find out how the virus threat is evolving and why it is more important than ever to protect your systems and data.

Tech Tip:
Using a PC to Scan for Viruses on the IFS
To date, connecting a PC loaded with anti-virus software to the iSeries has been the only way to scan the IFS for viruses. It is an inelegant solution, and there are a number of security risks and stability/performance issues associated with the method. Find out what to be aware of, the proper way of restricting access to the IFS during scanning, and how the native StandGuard Anti-Virus solution can make protecting the IFS much easier.
