White Paper:
The Modern Virus Threat and Regulatory Compliance

The evolving threat from viruses is challenging the ability of IT management to keep up with security requirements and the ability of software developers to outsmart the criminals behind the code. As SOX-style legislation spreads to other countries, the international nature of today’s business world makes the challenge even greater. In this paper we examine the modern virus threat and how this threat can impact System i. In addition, we look at how management of the threat ties into the now all too familiar Sarbanes-Oxley law, as well as the emerging Japanese flavor of the same, known perhaps affectionately as J-SOX in its home country. With specific guidance from COBIT and NIST, this helpful resource can bring you up-to-date on the globalization of regulatory legislation and how best to mitigate the virus threat on your System i-based network. Demystifying Security: A new approach to security from Pat Botz
To most in today’s hi-tech world of networks and regulations, security seems complex; and the solution is to hand the baton to the tech savvy and throw the latest software at the problem. But in reality this can be the least effective path to efficient and effective security. In short, they’re putting the cart before the horse. The truth is that security is really a business issue, not a technological one. It’s about finding the right balance between your level of risk tolerance and the cost of achieving an acceptable level of risk—and making the right business decisions along the way. In this free presentation from Group8 Security, former IBM System i Security Architect Pat Botz shows you a different way of looking security. Download the presentation >

Scanning Guest Operating Systems for viruses on System i
With support for Guest Operating Systems—such as AIX and Linux—the number of paths through which malicious code can gain access to sensitive data on System i greatly increases.
