Since 1986, Messenger has been the leading monitoring and notification solution for the iSeries, and this enhanced version continues to extend the product’s power by incorporating various enhancements that have been made since June 2003 as well as a new disk monitor and automatic updating.

The new disk monitoring feature adds a new *DISK monitor type that will monitor the growth and available storage of your iSeries disk units. Runaway programs, large file installations, and extensive logging can all increase the amount of stored data and, if not monitored, could potentially lead to system slowdowns and even shutdowns. With this new disk monitor, you can create monitors to check the growth of disk units on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis. When thresholds are reached, Messenger will trigger alerts notifying administrators of the impending disk space problems.

Another new feature—automatic updating—has been a popular standard feature in our StandGuard Security products and is now available for our Messenger customers. The automatic updating feature ensures that you have the latest features and fixes directly from Bytware by automatically downloading fixes and enhancements to the product.
